Here you will find information about when and how to visit the nationalpark, what times the naturum visitor centre and the restaurant are open and some other information that may be of interest. Feel free to contact us if you have any further questions.
Fulufjället is located in north-western Dalarna next to the Norwegian border about 25 km west of Särna. Follow road 70 north of Särna to get to the main entrance. After 4 km turn left towards Mörkret and Gördalen. From Mörkret follow the signs to Fulufjället National Park.
Important! The only public transport from the nearest bus stop in Särna to Fulufjället is a bus that needs to be booked in advance.
Clothing and equipment
You can visit all of the entrances in ordinary shoes. If you are going out on trails other than the Njupeskär loop, rubber boots or waterproof hiking boots are recommended.
In the summer there may be periods with lots of mosquitoes, so remember to bring mosquito repellent.
One of our trails is accessible for wheelchair and stroller. With some strength and guts you can get as far as the Njupeskär cabin, where you have a nice view of the waterfall. It is a gravel trail with STEEP slopes. There is also a shorter trail of about 1.5 kilometres with no slopes, but without a view of the waterfall.
If you have any questions about our trails, want to hike for a day or more - come to us at the naturum visitor centre and talk with our knowledgeable staff. Outside of opening hours, you may also contact us by phone or email. Upon request, we'll send our hiking map to you, so that you may plan your trip from the comfort of your home (provided you have an address in Sweden).
The folder about Fulufjället National Parks - From Old Growth Forests to Mountains - A Limitless Experience covers the whole mountain on both sides of the border and has a common map. The folder is made to fit in with the new Swedish national park profile and is a part of the interregional collaboration project Gränsöverskridande besöksförvaltning för Fulufjällets nationalparker.
To make sure that you have clothing and equipment adapted to the weather, don't forget to check the weather before visiting.
