Forestry

Some selective cutting has occurred continually within the area. According to reports, beginning in 1948 and continuing for several years, a large-scale thinning of a 600-hectare area was carried out between Boksjön lake and Orshöjden.

For several years four to five men engaged in cutting about 3,000 forest cubic metres, which was a very large felling timber right for that time. The lumberjacks lived in barracks by Bräckan.

The timber was transported down to the shore of Boksjön lake by Bräckan, among other places, from which it was floated across the lake and down through the Hallerudsälven river. In the winter some was also transported by horse. One winter a horse and trailer went through the ice.
